They aren't responsible for the 64-bit version of their mod.

If you encounter any 64-bit Stardew bugs report it to their page, not the mod author's page on the nexus. Give it a try and be a guinea pig, it is unofficial, but the guy Pathoschild (the godfather of the mods and creator of SMAPI) even made SMAPI work with 64-bit Stardew not that long ago (around May 2021). You will need SMAPI 3.10 to use Stardew 64-bit. Most importantly, they are trying to make Stardew 64-bit work perfectly. A small 1% of your mods won't work till the mod authors fix it to work with 64-bit Stardew. It will also crash randomly at the title screen.

And even if you get it up, too many mods will slow it down even though 32-bit Stardew runs all those mods at full speed. It is made by turning 64-bit linux Stardew into 64-bit Windows Stardew with a lot of modding around. If you want to play with 493 mods you need to try Stardew 64-bit (for my mods it was 5.5 GB RAM total, you can see it in Windows Task manager press alt-ctrl-del).

Even worse, some mods are made so badly they have a memory leak, where they constantly use more and more of your ram because they refuse to give it up and use more and more of that 4 GB ram budget. However as you continue to expand your farm and dive deeper into your mod's content into the late game, SMAPI can't keep up and then you get the dreaded out of memory red text and can't save. Same concept as unzipping somthing and it gets bigger, ratios can be all over the place! They may be expanded so they are easier to work with in RAM.īut there is some good news, SMAPI tries to intelligently minimize the ram usage of your mods. You may ask, "The mods I downloaded from the nexus aren't that big, maybe a couple megabytes, could they really be the problem?" Well that is true, but how those mods are stored in RAM may be larger than the size you downloaded. It is now a question of " How many megabytes of RAM are my mods using?" So now it is no longer a question of "How many mods is too many?" So as you can see, you can uninstall 32-bit apps or disable them on Windows. So we have 4 GB budget available and it gets divided like this:ģ2-bit un-modded Stardew uses around 1 GB The 4 GB is shared with other 32-bit programs that you installed on Windows. If Stardew was 64-bit it could use 16 exabytes and we wouldn't have the dreaded out of memory problem.

Why 4 GB? Multiply 2 by itself 32 times (2^32) and you get a number close to 4 billion and that is why it is 4 GB. I'm looking at you 32-bit dropbox using 133 megabytes of my RAM! What's more is that if you have other 32-bit programs, they will start sharing with Stardew.

Stardew is a 32-bit program and these 32-bit programs can only use 4 GB of ram in your computer, even if your computer is Windows 10 64-bit and has 64 GB RAM, Stardew can't use more than 4 GB. Even though your computer has plenty of RAM left over. You might find some SMAPI red text error message saying out of memory or corrupt memory. There is a problem when you load too many mods in Stardew.
